alcohol also kills the natural oils in your skin that you need.

It’s not bad – just could dry the skin out. If you already have dry skin I would return them – if your skin is normal to leaning on the oily side I would give them a try. Biotherm is a great brand and usually has wonderful products.

It won’t clog your pores, but it is very drying. Much depends on your type of skin and your age. If you are a teenager with oily skin, some alcohol in products won’t hurt.

If you have oily skin then no ….it will help reduce some of the shininess from you skin …..if you have dry or combo skin then alcohol is a definite no no….it won’t do anything but make either of those conditions worse.

Most facial products contain alcohol, some contain less of it, some more of it. As far as I know, Biotherm is a great brand, I have been using it for a year now and really love it! (I have combination skin). This product line doesn’t hurt your skin, but instead the skin after using Biotherm is more even and soooo smooth. (Wow, it sounds like ads :)
What I think is give it a try and after decide if you want to go on on with it.
All very best to you!

Not all alcohols are bad for the skin. Cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol are 2 types that are often used in certain lotions and face washes (Cetaphil uses them). These are emollient alcohols that are actually good for skin. I’ve been using Cetaphil face wash for many years and find it’s the only thing that doesn’t aggravate my sensitive skin. But beware products that list plain alcohol. These can be very hard on your skin.

Alcohol products is drying and absorbs oil for skin. For example, if you have a combination skin, and you would want to use a toner with alcohol content, you can only use it at your T-zone area.

As for your cheeks, as it is more vulnerable, you only can use a toner without alcohol content. It would be mild and better for your skin.

I have heard that they are, but when it comes to stubborn acne, a few drops of alcohol on a cotton ball can be very helpful in getting rid of a zit. I do this when I am desperate, and I am 34 but I look 25, so I think it’s okay to do sometimes.

I’ve tried products with alcohol in them and all it did was dry out my face. Unless your face is an oil slick, I’d return the products.

Alcohol makes the skin dry, but I know someone that will put alcohol on the on-site of a pimple. It dries it right up. I wouldn’t use it all over my face though.

Your skin makes natural oil to protect it from certain skin cancers and alcohol destroys that protection

Yes, Alcohol can dry the skin, but isn’t that what you want? In moderation, it can help your skin. I recommend a balancing cleanser like Phiso-Derm to clear up the T-zone.
My face was messed up until I went to a dermatologist for Accutane, even proactiv didn’t work.

Alcohol is VERY drying, and is best for very oily areas you face, if you have them. Using these products in your T-zone, especially in the summer could help eliminate the extra shine.

alcohol will dry your skin, also unclogged pore…try cleanser for combination skin or with little alcohol..since you have T-zone oily skin try to use the toner just in that area that shines…I had problem finding a the right products…
i use now the clear pore toner….it does not dry my skin…from neutrogena…

Sarasole February 28, 2011 at 6:23 am

we all have different reactions to skin products…so i cant recommend you much…i do use neutrogena products and i have tried origins…”oil refiner toner” it works great on the T-zone…but they are kind of expensive…i heard Biotherm are good…i never tried them…also try not to use oily moisturizers…only apply in the area that you skin is not oily to prevent the pore to clogged with oil…

I would avoid them – there are other more natural products around.

The reason for using skincare products is to help the skin and I really am not convinced that alcohol-based ones work at all.

As for Biotherm, I’m sorry, I haven’t heard of it but go to a department store and get some samples – you can try a few out and see which you prefer and which actually suit your skin
